Vengo people

The Babungos are a tribe or an ethnic group of about 14,000 people who are located in the English-speaking Northwest Province of Cameroon. They live mainly in the region of a village that bears the same name Babungo. This village is located in the Cameroon Grasslands about 50 km west of the provincial capital of Bamenda on the so-called " Ring Road ". The native language of the tribe is also called Babungo. For ethnicity, village and language is often the spelling Bamungo to find.

In their own language the Babungos call their village vengo [ vəŋóo ] and their language ghang vengo [ Ghan vəŋóo ]; For this reason, ethnicity, village and language are officially listed under the terms Vengo or Vengoo. Alternative names are: Vengi, Pengo, Ngo, Nguu, Ngwa, Nge.
