Veni Domine
Veni Domine is a progressive Epic Doom band. It was founded in 1987 in Sollentuna, Sweden, and is attributed to the Christian Metal.
Band History
Was founded in 1987 Veni Domine of Thomas and Torbjörn Weinesjö and Anders Olofsson under the name Seventh Seal. A little later, Fredrik Sjöholm closed (also: Fredrik Ohlsson ) the band as a singer at. In 1987, the demo Glorify. Followed in 1988 Seventh Seal II, which was recorded a year later professionally in the Thunder Load Studios and published. Afterwards, the group renamed itself Veni Domine.
After the group on the Greenbelt Festival ( Cheltenham Racecourse, England) had occurred, she was able to secure a recording contract with the English label Kingsway Music. In 1991 the debut album Babylon case appeared case with keyboardist Per Anders Danielsson. The album was distributed by Massacre Records. For the second album Material Sanctuary (1995 ) Mats Lidbrant could be required as a keyboardist. For the release of the album the Ragne Wahlquist brothers and Styrbjörn had reanimated her record label Thunder Load Wahlquist (Heavy Load). 1996 toured the group with Saviour Machine and Soul Cages.
1997 rose Mattias Cederlund ( keyboards) and Gabriel Ingemarson (bass ) in Veni Domine. The fourth album Spiritual Wastelands appeared in the same year. Already at that time you worked in the songwriting for the follow-up work. In the fall of 2000, they went into the studio for the first time, but singer Fredrik Ohlsson got vocal problems and could no longer participate for one year.
2004 finally released their album IIII - The Album of Labour, again with Mats Lidbrant on keyboards. 2005 died in the former keyboardist Per Anders Danielsson.
2006 and 2007, published the albums 23:59 Tongues.
Music style
Veni Domine connect progressive metal elements with Doom Metal. The singing of Fredrik Sjöholm is very high and is often seen by critics as a shortcoming. Her songs are rather bleak and depressing and also their texts often refer to the Apocalypse, which is described in the Book of Revelation. The idiosyncratic sound makes it difficult for many to find access to the band.
