Sollentuna Municipality

Sollentuna is a municipality (in Swedish kommun ) in the Swedish Stockholm County and the historic province of Uppland.

Geography

The landscape of Sollentuna is characterized by two large bodies of water: to one of the lake Norrviken and on the other the Baltic Sea bay Edsviken that juts far into the country here.

The villages in the municipality are grown together into a single residential area, has the urban character. Today districts (or districts ) in this settlement are distinguished. Because of this geographical fact Sollentuna has no real capital, or as a whole can be regarded as the capital. The community center is located in the district Tureberg, which also has the most inhabitants.

Five of these districts are at breakpoints of the railway, where the local train stops. These are from south to north: Helenelund, Tureberg (the station is called Sollentuna ), Häggvik, Norrviken and Rotebro. Viby is an extension of Norrviken and the other districts Edsberg and Sjöberg are on the road to Danderyd. Another important road in the village is the road of Kallhäll after Rotebro and the highway (E4 ), which runs parallel to the railway line.

History

The development of community based primarily on the railway line between Stockholm and Uppsala. The limits are almost identical with the boundaries of the former parish ( socks ) with the same name. 1929 was the area like a city administrative status ( municipalsamhälle ) and 1944 Sollentuna was a patch ( Linköping ). The local government reform of 1971 this status was changed to municipality ( kommun ).

Attractions

  • Edsbacka Krog was a restaurant that was on the bay Edsviken and was founded in 1629. It has long been the only restaurant in Sweden, which was listed in the Michelin guide with two stars. Established in 2010, the operator of a bistro in the immediate vicinity after which the restaurant was closed.
  • Edsberg Castle was built in 1760 in Rococo style and is now used as a festival venue.
  • From the water tower on the Tunberg you have an allround view to the whole community.
  • The nature reserve Järvafältet is a popular recreation area and also has a lake with a bird-watching tower.
