Content
Dancers and mimes playing the story of Venus and Adonis by. Three opera singer ( " Prima Donna", "Heroes Actor " and " Clemente " ) and six Madrigalisten ( " shepherd" ) describe and comment on the action. In a kind of parallel action arises among the singers a myth similar conflict: The " Prima Donna" (equivalent to Venus) falls in love with the young " Clemente " (corresponds to Adonis ). The jealous "Heroes Actor " (equivalent to Mars) then stabs Clemente.
Performances
The world premiere production at Munich was later also shown at the National Theatre Mannheim.
The American premiere took place in 2000 at the Santa Fe Opera instead; this production has also been shown in Toronto in 2001. In 2001 the factory was given a concert in Tokyo.
