Vera Ilyina

Wera Sergejewna Iljina (Russian Вера Сергеевна Ильина, born February 20, 1974 in Moscow) is a former Russian Water Diving. She started in the art of jumping from 1 m and 3 m- board and 3-meter synchronized diving. Until her retirement after the 2004 Olympics, she jumped in synchronized competitions together with Julija Pacha Lina. Iljina is multiple European champion, at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, she was Olympic champion.

Iljina participated in four Olympic Games. In the 3-meter springboard diving it was in 1992 Barcelona Sixth, Seventh again in 1996 in Atlanta, 2000 Sydney and 2004 in Athens Sixth Fourth. In the 3-meter synchronized diving, she won gold in 2000 and 2004 silver.

In World Swimming Championships Iljina won four silver medals in the 3m springboard diving in 1994 in Rome, in the 1 m springboard diving in 1998 in Perth and in the synchronized diving in 2001 in Fukuoka and 2003 in Barcelona.

Even more successful was Iljina at European swimming championships. Between 1991 and 2004 she won 15 medals, including eight gold. In 1991, she was also European Junior Champion.
