Verdena

Verdena is an Italian rock band founded in 1995.

History

For the band's formation, the two brothers Alberto and Luca Ferrari were minors. With the entry of bassist Roberta Sammarelli saw the first demo recordings from July 1997 - were sold - but only moderately. The band changed its original name Verbena in Verdena after it was found that there was an American band of the same name.

In March 1999, the trio in Florence recorded his first official album, which bears the name of the band and appeared on 30 September 1999 in Italy, after the EP Valvonauta already on 21 June of the same year was published. In the meantime, the band played at some festivals and gained for the first time in Italy better known.

In October 2001 began a new tour, which lasted until 2002, and the band performed all over Italy as well as to a festival in the Netherlands for Verdena after the release of their second album solo un grande sasso. In the meantime, Fidel Fogaroli rose as a keyboardist; he was, however, only since January 2004 as an official member of the band.

In the summer of 2003 Verdena went back into the studio, this time to make recordings for their third album Il Suicidio dei Samurai, which appeared in Italy in the following year. It was followed by another tour of Italy; as the opening act for the band Dredg came the end of 2005 and in Switzerland and Germany, where - with the official release date March 29 - Il Suicidio dei Samurai is not only available as an import since 2005.

Through a European funding program Verdena received the 2006 amount of 8,000 €, which should flow into another European tour, the band uA again led by Germany and Switzerland, but also in France, where Il Suicidio dei Samurai has now also been published.

2007 Verdena worked in his own studio ( Studio Henhouse, which means something like chicken coop, which probably earlier there once was ) on their fourth album, some of whose songs have been presented live. Verdena dispensed in their Studio completely to digital technology in order to preserve the authenticity of the songs.

In March 2007, published Verdena their album Requiem in Italy, in Germany it was released on April 17. Since Fidel Fogaroli is no longer listed in the booklet among the members, it can be assumed that the band is once again formed a triad. The album was followed a few months later, the EP Canos.

Although the band outside of Italy rather considered as insider tip, Verdena has in their home already can celebrate many successes, such as they played there as the opening act for U2.

Style

The sound Verdenas is inspired by bands such as Radiohead, Queens of the Stone Age or Kyuss. On the other hand, is a singer Alberto Ferrari also a friend of the music of Pink Floyd or Cream, whose song Sunshine of Your Love Verdena published in a cover version.
