Verkehrsgewerkschaft GDBA

The Transport Workers Union GDBA was a trade union in the German Civil Service Federation ( DBB - beamtenbund and tarifunion ), headquartered in Frankfurt am Main. You merged on 30 November 2010 with the DGB trade union Transnet to rail and Transport union ( ECG).

Information

It was founded around 60 years ago as a trade union German Federal Railroad officials and candidates ( GDBA ) and merged on 30 November 2010 with the union Transnet to the Railway and Transport union ( ECG). Period of its existence, she represented alongside the employees of Deutsche Bahn AG, the German Federal Railways Fund (BEV ) of the Federal Railway Authority (EBA ) and the Federal Office for Goods Transport (BAG ) also employees of other private transport companies. In addition, employees at the German Pension Insurance for Miners - Bahn-See (DRV KBS ) and BAHN- BKK. Due to the involvement of Deutsche Bahn in Arcor workers were organized there.

With the DGB trade union Transnet since August 2005, there was a collective bargaining unit. End of October 2009 it was announced that Transnet and GDBA merger negotiations led to a new transport union. With the German train drivers union, which also belongs to the dbb beamtenbund and tarifunion, consists of Deutsche Bahn, however, no more collective bargaining unit.

Organization

The Transport Workers Union had GDBA than subdivision five regions:

  • Northern Region ( area of Bremen, Hamburg, Lower Saxony, Schleswig -Holstein)
  • Northeast region (range: Berlin, Brandenburg, Mecklenburg- Western Pomerania, Saxony, Saxony -Anhalt, Thuringia )
  • Southern Region ( area of Bavaria)
  • Southwest Region (range: Baden- Württemberg, Rhineland -Palatinate, Saarland )
  • West Region (range, Hesse, North Rhine -Westphalia)

Under the level of the regions, there were approximately 300 local chapters with over 3,000 shop stewards.

On the organizational levels working committees and working groups, representing the special needs of the various professions within the general trade union work. In addition, the women and the elderly had their own representatives to ensure that the special interests of these groups could be brought into union work to advantage.

In the organizational structure, there was overlap with other dbb unions. In the area of ​​DRV Knappschaft- Bahn-See also the union of social security ( GdS ) was active.

The youth organization of the Transport Workers Union was the GDBA - youth.

International

The Transport Workers Union GDBA was a member of the International Transport Workers 'Federation ( ITF) and the European Transport Workers' Federation ( ETF) since 2005.

DBB exclusion and redemption

The GDBA had due to the changed conditions in the path for a merger with Germany's biggest rail union, Transnet, pronounced. For this reason, it was decided at the extraordinary union conference of 10 December 2009, " within the next 12 to 18 months," together with Transnet, a new transport union to set up.

Since the GDBA no longer the German Civil Service Federation, but the German Confederation of Trade Unions would have had as an umbrella organization in this new union, the DBB concluded also on 10 December, the GDBA out, removed all committee members of GDBA from DBB bodies and blocked the access to site and register of members of the GDBA.

In the following days GDBA members were contacted by the DBB, where they were told that they have no legal part of the DBB more. The chairman of the GDBA also turned in an open letter to the Chairman of the German train drivers union. The Berlin Regional Court issued on December 20, 2009, a preliminary injunction, after the DBB has to make all the steps reversed and the GDBA with the Transnet remains a full member of the DBB until the merger. The DBB announced vocation.

In preparation for the merger of the unions members' meetings were held in 10 cities in the GDBA. The union days of Transnet and GDBA decided on 30 Nov 2010 in Fulda, a merger of the two unions on the new Railway and Transport union ( ECG).
