Verona van de Leur
Verona van de Leur (born 27 December 1985, Gouda) is a former Dutch gymnast.
Van de Leur began with five years T.O.O.S. Waddinxveen with gymnastics at; from the age of nine she did gymnastics as a top athlete at Pro Patria Zoetermeer.
In 2000, she appeared on the national level for the first time in appearance, as they for juniors won the all-around finals and three devices at the Dutch championship. A year later she became the first national champion in the seniors. With the Dutch team reached surprising fifth place at the World Championships in Ghent. Hereby they were sports team of the year 2001.
The Gymnastics European Championships in 2002, Van de Leur won no less than five medals at the European Gymnastics Championships in Patras. The Dutch team won silver and Van de Leur was second in the all around behind Svetlana Khorkina. She also won in the discipline jump silver medal and on the balance beam and the floor exercise one bronze medal.
Many were of the opinion that they should have won in the bottom discipline of gold, but a jury error cost her tenth point; thus she had to eventually settle for 3rd place. At the World Championships in Debrecen, she won silver at the bottom of discipline, and at the World Cup finals in the same year, she won gold in this discipline. She was elected as a sports woman of the year, and with her team, she was again Sports Team of the Year.
The 2003 World Championships in Anaheim was a big disappointment: Van de Leur and Renske Endel were set up only as a substitute gymnasts and the Dutch team not wrestled through to the top twelve. Thus, the gymnasts missed the qualification for the Olympic Games in Athens. Then there was a break between Van de Leur and their coach Frank Louter; from then on she trained at De Hazenkamp in Nijmegen, the club coach Boris Orlov. In 2007, Van de Leur Netherlands for the fourth time champion in the all around. In the National Championship in Nijmegen she won gold on the balance beam and in the floor discipline; on the uneven bars, she won bronze.
On 19 June 2008, Van de Leur declared their retirement from competitive sport. Conflicts with the gymnastics federation and lack ( with caused by a problem situation at home) motivation to have played an important role in her decision.
Early May 2011, Van de Leur was for extortion of a adulterous couple, which they followed and then extorted sentenced. The end of October of the same year, she announced to work from then on as a webcam model.
