Veselin Stoyanov

Veselin Stoyanov, Veselin Stoyanov also, Bulgarian Веселин Стоянов, ( born April 20, 1902 in Shumen, † June 29 1969 in Sofia ) was a Bulgarian composer.

Life

As the son of a music teacher Stoyanov came early into contact with music. After attending the gymnasium of his native city he studied until 1926 at the Music Academy in Sofia. He then moved to the Vienna Academy of Music. Here he was, inter alia, taught by Franz Schmidt and Joseph Marx and composition of Viktor Ebenstein and C. de Cone in piano. After a short period as a concert pianist Stoyanov taught from 1937 morphology and composition at the Music Academy of Sofia. 1943-1944 and 1956-1962 he was rector of this institution.
