Vesijärvi

The Vesijärvi is a lake in the Finnish landscape Päijät -Häme.

The lake has an area of ​​107.51 km ² and is situated at an altitude of 81.4 m. The cities of Lahti and Asikkala are on the lakeshore. Vääksynjoki and Vääksyn channel draining the lake to the northern Päijänne, which is separated by a narrow isthmus from Vesijärvi.

In the 1960s, the water was severely affected by eutrophication. Then counter- measures were taken in the 1970s.

The eastern Teilsee of Vesijärvi forms of Enonselkä. There is also the island Enonsaari.

The name of the lake literally means " water lake ".
