Vicenç Cuyàs

Vicenç Cuyàs (* 1816 in Palma de Mallorca, † September 1, 1839 in Barcelona) was a Catalan composer.

Life

Shortly after Cuyàs ' birth, the family moved to Barcelona Palma de Mallorca. At his father's request, the young Cuyàs began studying medicine, but he gave up again soon. Inspired by the music of his time, he joined the Conservatoire de la Academia Llotja, where he was taught in piano, composition and harmony. Among his fellow students also scored a well-known Catalan maestro named Ramon Vilanova. At the age of 19 years, the gifted Cuyàs experienced primera the premiere of his Sinfonia. After various composition work and success at private concerts he began composing his first opera, " Ugo, conte di Parigi ". His second and last opera " La fattucchiera " followed in 1838 after only three months of paperwork. Cuyàs ' father died during the opera samples from tuberculosis. Cuyàs - also seriously ill - was just able to witness the final performance of his " La fattucchiera ". Romantic and tragic as in a short story broke Vicenç Cuyàs after the final scene dead together.
