Vicent Franch

Franch i Vicent Ferrer ( b. 1949 in Burriana ) is a Valencian lawyer, political scientist, journalist and writer.

Career

He is a professor of constitutional law in retirement and also of political and administrative science at the University of Valencia. He was since 1990-1995 judge in the Administrative Court of the Region of Valencia.

He is director of the Center of election documentation from the Land of Valencia. Some years ago he was director of the collection ' Estudi General Textos Valencians ' of Alfonso el Magnanim Foundation of the District of Valencia. The purpose of this anthology is to regain the main Valencian contributions to social thought and social debate since Arnau de Vilanova until now. During different periods he has been director of the Department of Constitutional Law and Political and Administrative Science at the University of Valencia. He is currently Director of the magazine treatise de l' Aigua ( Valencian times straddling magazine about water).

During the transition, he was the first president and later Syndic of Agrupació Borrianenca de Cultura ( Culture Society of Borriana ). He was also from 1999 to 2003 mayor of the small village of Aín, located in the province of Castelló.

During these years, Vicent Franch has participated in numerous debates, colloquia and conferences. He has also attended various courses and seminars.

Vicent Franch is the author of a dozen books and nearly a hundred articles that have to do with the Valencian political history, local Spanish law, linguistic rights and political theory and practice. He has written various reports on the current problems of the Valencian regional government. He is the author also of a circumstantial report on the amendment of the electoral system of the Spanish Senate, which was commissioned by the Spanish Senate itself in 1997.

In collaboration with other professors, he was the author of the Statute of Morella (1979). This document served as a model for the different versions and proposals of autonomy statutes for the Valencian Country during the Spanish transition to democracy. He has supervised many works on polls and political behavior of the Valencian people. 2005, he was the author of a number of proposals for the reform of the Valencian Statute of Autonomy, and linguistic rights.
