Vienna ( vaɪɛnə ) is a city in the U.S. state of Georgia. It is located in Dooly County and is the County Seat. In 2000 it had 2867 inhabitants.

Geography

Vienna is located in the south of Dooly County. The nearby towns are Lily, Pinehurst and Rochelle. The nearest major town, Albany, is located about 70 kilometers south-west, the capital of Georgia, Atlanta, about 197 kilometers north.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 13.6 km ², of which only 0.19 % is held by waters.

History

The first known name of the city, even before the incorporation on February 8, 1854 Barrien was. 1840, the city was renamed in Centerville and finally, on February 8, 1841 the Countyverwaltung, the city decided according to the Austrian capital Vienna (English: Vienna ) designate.
