Vigevano Calcio

Vigevano Calcio is an Italian football club based in Vigevano. The club was founded in 1921 and plays its home matches at the Stadio Dante Merlo, which seats 3,000 spectators. Vigevano Calcio has played for eleven years in Serie B and is currently found in the Excellency, the sixth- highest division in Italy.

History

Vigevano Calcio was founded in 1921 in the town of Vigevano in the province of Pavia, Lombardy. Previously there had been a sports club in the city, which was originally founded in 1898 as Società per Ginnastica Vigevano and whose name is still changed several times over the years. 1921 then a football department was outsourced, which received the name Giovani Calciatori Vigevanesi. Fifteen years later, the first name change took place, it changed its name to AC Vigevano. By 1979, the football club now bearing that name before by a start-up contingent of team name FC Vigevano was introduced in 1979. Anno 1993 took place again changes and the club was then called Vigevano Calcio how to say today.

Among the first two names Vigevano reach the greatest success. A total of eleven years played the club with interruptions in the second Italian football league, Serie B for the first time went to was in the 1930/31 season, as a first rank in the Promozione, which at that time represented the third division, was achieved, the rise had resulted. In the Serie B 1931/32 Vigevanesi played well and ended up with at the end of the season on a good fourth. This result was only getopt by a second place in the Girona A Serie B 1933/34, when the rise was only missed in the Serie A promotion playoffs, where the SG Sampierdarenese was beaten. Only two years after the success of the now renamed AC Vigevano club was relegated in the C series. After the immediate re- ascent, you could be found in the following years again in the second division, but was always able to reach only positions in the lower middle. 1939/40, it rose again in the C series and it was now up to the year 1946, before Vigevano returned back to the B series. 1946/47 and 1947/48 playing the AC Vigevano two seasons in the second division before relegation back to the third tier. In the season 1957/58 the club acted for the last time until today in Serie B and rose only a year after the rise again immediately. Over the next seven years, the crash occurred until the fifth league. To this day, the club swings between regional leagues and the lower professional leagues. Currently playing in the Excellency, the sixth Italian league in the season Lombardy.
