Viive Sterpu

Viive Sterpu (born Sirkel; born December 17, 1953 in Tallinn ) is an Estonian artist.

Work

Viive Sterpu draws mostly with pastels on sandpaper. Also, graphics and glass processing have a part in her work. Their motives she finds in everyday life and the works bring one hand a feminine tenderness and on the other hand, the loneliness of a City a woman. She loves animals and nature, and these motifs show up frequently in their works. The colors are pure and be in harmonious relationship. Since her marriage she signed her works with ' " Viive '", previously was the signature " Sirkel ".

The heroines of Puccini

Inspired by the music of Giacomo Puccini created Viive Sterpu a series of 12 pictures entitled The heroines of Puccini. This collection of 14 heroines - Anna, Tigrana, Manon, Mimi / Musetta, Tosca, Cio-Cio- San, Minnie, Magda, Giorgetta, Sister In League, Lauretta, Liú / Turandot - she gave in April 2007, the Villa Museo Puccini ( Torre del Lago Puccini ) paid. The Donation was taken by the granddaughter of Giacomo Puccini, Simonetta Puccini in reception.

About Viive and her husband a documentary " Viive and Eugen Sterpu " was established in 2004 and turned into ETV ( Eesti Televisioon ) in the series " Subjektiiv " aired.

Exhibitions

Viive Sterpu exhibited both in single as well as in group exhibitions in Estonia, Finland and Italy.

Viive Sterpu is a member of Eesti art Nike Liit ( Association of Artists of Estonia ).
