Viktor Shalimov

Viktor Ivanovich Shalimov (Russian Виктор Иванович Шалимов; born April 20, 1951 in Solnechnogorsk, Russian SFSR ) is a former Russian ice hockey player.

Career

His career began in 1969/70 at HK Spartak Moscow. In all, he scored 293 goals in 572 games in the Soviet league. Early on, he was appointed to the team of the Soviet national ice hockey team. On November 5, 1972, he was in a game against Finland for the first time for the Sbornaja on the ice. His international career was crowned with the gold medal at the Olympic Winter Games in 1976. In 1975, he was inducted into the "Russian Hockey Hall of Fame". For the 1985/86 season he moved to Austria and played for Innsbruck and Salzburg. In Innsbruck, he was also coach during the 1985/86 season.
