Viktor Sokol (footballer born 1954)

Viktar Sokal (White Russian Віктар Пятровіч Сокал, Russian Виктор Петрович Сокол ( Viktor Petrovich Sokol ); born December 5, 1954 in Minsk, BSSR ) is a retired Belarusian football player and coach. It was in 1982 with the FK Dinamo Minsk football champions of the Soviet Union. In Europe Champions Cup he was in the subsequent scorer.

Biography

Sokal began his professional career at FK Dinamo Brest in the third division of the former Soviet Union. After two years of joining the striker for FK Dinamo Minsk, the then sole representative of present-day Belarus in the top Soviet league. There he spent the longest period of his active football career in 1982 and was able to win with the club even the football championship of the Soviet Union. By winning the championship, the club participated in the 1983/84 season in part at the European Champions Cup. There he came with his team to the quarter-finals, firing shots total of six goals to scorer. In the next season he was with the club third in the league and participated in the UEFA Cup, where the club was defeated in the quarterfinals. In 1987 he came to Minsk to the final of the Soviet Cup competition and participated in the following season at the European Cup Winners' Cup, in which the team failed at KV Mechelen. In 1991 he moved for a season to Poland Jagiellonia Białystok, then returned to Minsk back and played for a short time with the amateurs of FK. This he coached after his playing career for two years, then went back to Dinamo Brest and coached the last U- 17 Selection of Belarus.
