Viktor Zinger

Viktor Alexandrovich Singer (Russian Виктор Александрович Зингер; born October 29, 1941 in Dawydowo in Ryazan Oblast, Russian SFSR, † September 24, 2013 ) was a Soviet ice hockey goaltender and coach.

Career

His time in the Soviet league he spent at HK Spartak Moscow. Overall, he was at 370 games in the Soviet league in goal.

He was appointed to the team of the Soviet national ice hockey team early on. On February 26, 1965, he was in a game against Canada for the first time for the Sbornaja on the ice. His international career was crowned with the gold medal at the 1968 Olympic Winter Games. For the national team, he was in 57 countries playing in goal. But he was always in the shadow of the great goalkeeper Viktor Vladislav Tretiak and Konowalenko. He was with his team several times world champion. In 1967 he was inducted into the "Russian Hockey Hall of Fame". On 31 August 1976 he played his last international match.

After finishing his sports career at Spartak Moscow Singer worked, first as a goalkeeper coach, and later as coach of the Spartak Sports School and head coach of the junior team.
