Vileyka VLF transmitter

The VLF transmitter Wilejka is the 43rd broadcast center of the Russian Navy, west of Wilejka in Belarus. The VLF transmitter Wilejka used for transmission of messages in the VLF range of submerged submarines and for the transmission of time signals in the VLF range (transmitter RJH69 ) at several frequencies between 20.5 kHz and 25 kHz.

As with the former transmitter Goliath of the German Navy, the antenna system of the VLF transmitter Wilejka of three antenna systems lead with one insulated against ground central mast of the antenna wires to the 6 grounded ring poles, where they are attached to insulators. As with Goliath three ring masts are used by two antenna systems, so that one only needs a 15 ring masts also the VLF transmitter Wilejka. Another commonality with the former transmitter Goliath is that the central masts as Stahlrohrmaste and the ring pylons were designed as a steel truss masts with triangular cross-section.

The height of the ring poles of the VLF transmitter Wilejka is 270 meters and the height of the central towers 305 meters. They are thus almost exactly 100 meters higher than the corresponding poles of the former Goliath transmitter.
