Villa Giardino

Villa Giardino is a small town in the province of Cordoba in Argentina. There, in 2001 a total of 4,679 inhabitants. It is located about 85 km from the capital Córdoba, on the Ruta Nacional 38, between La Cumbre and La Falda. From the INDEC is counted for agglomeration of the latter city, which has a total of more than 30,000 inhabitants.

History

Originally, the small town was inhabited by the Comechingones, Spanish settlers established two major ( estancias ), they were called El Molino and Altos de San Pedro. With the arrival of the railway in the 19th century took place in the region successful development of local agricultural production and the mining of limestone.

The city was named after the landowner Juan Giardino, owner of the Altos de San Pedro and a driving force in the urbanization of the village.

During the autumn months, Villa Giardino transformed into a wonderful garden through the many Cosmos. Therefore, El jardin de Villa Giardino Punilla is called. The inhabitants of Giardino celebrate since the year 2005, the Cosmos Fiesta.

Cosmosfiesta

With the support of municipalidad de Villa Giardino and the Cooperativa de Servicios Públicos Villa Giardino, the Cosmosfiesta annually to praise the cosmos (Cosmos ), celebrated. At this event musicians, artists, students and of course the city's residents participate.
