Origin and Meaning

The name is derived from the Latin name Vincentius, a further development of " vincens " ( victorious ) and is thus related to Viktor ( for " Winner" ). To spread in the Middle Ages was mainly due to the veneration of St. Vincent in which in Valencia was martyred in 304 under Diocletian.
