Vincenzo Antinori

Vincenzo Antinori (* 1792 in Florence, † 1865 ibid ) was from 1829 to 1859 director of the Museum of Physics and Natural History in Florence and called Giovanni Battista Amici and Leopoldo Nobili to the chair of astronomy and physics. He was the initiator of the Congress of Italian scientists in Pisa ( 1839) and Florence (1841 ). In 1839 he also organized the Italian Archives for Meteorology. As a member of the Accademia della Crusca Linguistic Society, he wrote numerous articles on scientific topics. His particular interest was Galileo Galilei.
