Vinica, Veľký Krtíš District

Vinica ( until 1948 slovak " Nekyje " until 1927 " Nekynce "; German nInIk, Hungarian Ipolynyék, older even Nyék ) is a municipality in Okres Veľký Krtíš about 24 kilometers southwest of the capital of Velky Krtíš on the edge of the valley basin of Ipeľ in the south of Slovakia, near the border with Hungary.

Today's church was established on December 8, 1905 by the merger of places Dolné Nekyje, Horne Nekyje and Kostonca. The settlement Leklinec, which is located northeast of the church, belongs to the town.

1135 the site was mentioned on a list of King Béla II and in 1156 recorded a settlement called Nek in writing for the first time. 1351 has been between So Nyék és Felseö Nyék - that is, between a lower and an upper district - distinguished.

Until 1918 the village was in the county of Hont the Kingdom of Hungary (where it was the seat of a chair district administration ) and then came to the newly formed Czechoslovakia. By the First Vienna Award they came from 1938 to 1945 for a short time again to Hungary.

The population lives mainly on agriculture, livestock farming and wine growing and consists mainly of Magyars - about 12 % of the population profess the Slovak nationality.
