Viorel Ion

Viorel Ion ( born November 2, 1967 in Mărăcineni ) is a former Romanian football player.

Career

Clubs

Ion played in Romania for Gloria Buzău, Oţelul Galaţi and Steaua Bucharest before moving to the Bundesliga in Germany. He was loaned in the season 1998/99 VfL Bochum of Oţelul Galaţi. The team coached by Klaus Toppmöller Ion graduated twelve games and scored one goal. After the season, he returned to Romania and was still playing for Oţelul Galaţi, Rapid Bucharest, Gloria Buzău, Rulmentul Alexandria and Dunărea Galaţi.

National

Ion came in his career on four inserts for the Romanian national team. He made his debut on 21 December 1991 at the friendly match against Egypt in Cairo.
