Virginia's Eastern Shore AVA

Virginia's Eastern Shore AVA is a 176.64 hectare wine producing area in the U.S. state of Virginia. Recognition as American Viticultural Area (AVA ) was made in 1991. Attached are other grape varieties Chardonnay, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot

Location

The area on the east coast of the state of Virginia extends over the southern tip of the Delmarva Peninsula. The wine region is located in the Accomack County and Northampton. The height above sea level is a maximum of 15 meters, the soils are sandy.

Climate

The region's climate is mild all year round and is strongly influenced by the Atlantic Ocean and its location on the Chesapeake Bay, which limits the production area to the west.
