Vitter Bodden

The Vitter Bodden is a gutter lagoon, also called Bodden, between the northern part of the island Hiddensee ( with the peninsulas new and Altbessin ) in the west and north of the peninsula and the bow, Wieker Bodden and the northern part of Schaprode Peninsula in the east. In the north of the lagoon bordering the Bight Libben at the open Baltic Sea and on the south by the Schaproder Bodden. He belongs to the West Rügen Bodden. It was named Bodden to Vitte, the main town on the lying on Hiddensee Bodden. The lagoon is part of the National Park Boddenlandscape. The Vitter Bodden is always very shallow ( usually less than 1.5 m ), only the fairway and an area in the middle are about 2 feet deep. In the north- western part of the lagoon is very shallow and runs in a wind watts before Hiddensee. Here are the two peninsulas Neubessin and Altbessin grow through the ablated masses of sand from the north of the island steadily over the bay.
