Wieker Bodden
The Wieker Bodden is a lagoon that is mostly surrounded by the island of Rügen. It belongs to the North Rügen Bodden.
Geographical Location
The Wieker Bodden lies between the bug peninsula in the west and the main part of the Wittow peninsula in the north and east. In the south of the lagoon adjacent to the Rassower current that creates a connection from the westerly Vitter Bodden to the eastern Great Jasmund.
Adjacent communities
His name has received from the adjacent site Wiek Bodden. Except Wiek still Dranske is a larger village on Wieker Bodden.
Loading bay of Wiek
In Wiek a loading bridge for the shipment of chalk was started before the First World War, with the construction. The bridge is still preserved, though in ruinous condition.
Surfing
In the northern part of the lagoon is very shallow and therefore very popular with wind and kite surfers.
