Vivekananda Setu

Vivekananda Setu ( Bengali: বিবেকানন্দ সেতু, Bibekananda setu; German: Vivekananda Bridge, in English also Willingdon Bridge and Bally Bridge ) is a bridge over the Hooghly River in the Indian state of West Bengal. It was completed in 1932 and connects Howrah at Bali ( Bally) with Kolkata at Dakshineshwar.

The bridge was named after Vivekananda, is a combined railway - road bridge. It consists of seven steel segments. A railway line between Kolkata ( Sealdah Station) and Delhi as well as the road connecting the Grand Trunk Road ( National Highway 2) led (t ) s about it. Because of their dilapidation and inadequate flow capacity, a new, Nivedita Setu -called road bridge was 50 meters south of it built as part of the National Highways Development Project. It is the first Extradosed bridge India.

Right next to the bridge is the temple of Dakshineshwar.
