Vizovice Highlands

The Vizovická Highlands ( German Vizovice mountains ) is a mountain range of Slovak -Moravian Carpathians in the Czech Republic.

Geography

The mountain land extends southeast of the city of Zlín in eastern Moravia. To the north includes separated by the valleys of the mountains Trnavka and Rokytenka Hostýnské mountains and in the north east of the Vsetínské Hills. East of the River Senice forms a natural border to the Javorníky. In the south, close to the White Carpathians. Southwest falls from the highlands into the through by the March South Moravian basin. To the west the March forms the border to Mars Mountains. To the northwest, in Zlín, the valley floor Hornomoravský úval connects.

The mountain country covers an area of 1399 km ² and has an average height of 338.7 m. The highest elevation is 753 m above sea level the Klášťov.

Operation is broken the Vizovice Bergland in five subunits Fryštácká Brázda ( Freistadtler sink), Hlucka pahorkatina ( Hulker hill country), Komonecká hornatina ( Komenetzwald ) Luhačovická Highlands ( Luhatschowitzer Bergland ) and Zlínská Highlands ( Zlin Bergland ).

Most important cities are Zlín, Vizovice and Luhačovice.

The mountains is drained mainly to the west by the Dřevnice, Březnice and Olšava to March. About the Vlára part of the southern part of the catchment area of the Waag. To a lesser extent, the Senice water from the Vizovice Bergland leads to Vsetínská Bečva.
