Vladimir Anatolyevich Yakovlev

Vladimir Yakovlev Anatoljevich (Russian: Владимир Анатольевич Яковлев; born November 25, 1944 in Oljokminsk, Yakutia ) is a Russian politician. He was Deputy Prime Minister of the country and from mid-2004 to September 2007, Minister for Regional Development, Municipal Housing and nationalities.

Yakovlev was from 1996 to 2003 governor ( mayor) of St. Petersburg, where he worked together with Vladimir Putin - since then is both an intimate dislike each other rumored.

Yakovlev studied civil engineering and was after a long time as an engineer for urban renewal charge. He worked in the St. Petersburg, together with Vladimir Putin administration under then- Governor Anatoly Sobchak. In the gubernatorial election in 1996, he kicked his foster father to Sobchak - Sobchak environment and Putin considered this a betrayal, but Yakovlev won the election. In 2003 he was replaced Valentina Matviyenko in this office, since Yakovlev no longer allowed to be standing for re-election.
