Vladimir Kiselyov

Vladimir Viktorovich Kiselyov (Russian: Владимир Викторович Киселёв; * January 1, 1957 in Kremenchug, Ukraine ) is a former Ukrainian track and field athlete, who competed for the Soviet Union. At a height of 1.86 m his competition weight was 125 kg.

The European Junior Champion of 1975 Vladimir Kiselyov won in 1979 with 20.01 m at the European Indoor Championships bronze in the shot put behind the Finn Reijo Ståhlberg ( 20,47 ) and the British Geoff Capes ( 20,23 ).

Kisseljows biggest international success was winning the gold medal at the 1980 Olympic Games with Olympic record of 21.35 meters in the last attempt. Kiselyov had lain since the first attempt with 21,10 m lead. Second was the Exweltrekordler Alexander Baryshnikov with 21.08 meters ahead of the reigning world record holder Udo Beyer with 21,06 m. Reijo Ståhlberg and Geoff Capes occupied positions 4 and 5

1982 could occupy the fourth place with 19.55 m at the European Indoor Championships Kiselyov, at the outdoor European Championships, he was with 20,40 m seventh.

Kiselyov was 1982 and 1984 champion of the Soviet Union. His personal best of 21.58 m, with Kiselyov 1984. But at the 1984 Olympics, he was unable to attend due to the Soviet Olympic boycott.
