Vladimír Zábrodský

Vladimír Zábrodský ( born March 7, 1923 in Prague ) is a former Czechoslovak ice hockey player and coach who counts with 306 league and 158 international goals of the most successful strikers of the Czechoslovak ice hockey. He also participated as a Tennis player three times Davis Cup.

Career

Vladimír Zábrodský, son of Oldrich Zábrodský and the Russian Olga Nikitina, began at the age of five years with the skating. At seven, he had the first time a hockey stick in his hand and the age of nine he began training at the LTC Prague. From 1939 he played for the men's team of the club and won with this four times the Czechoslovak Championship ( 1946-1949 ), three times the Spengler Cup three times and was top scorer in the Czechoslovak league. Since his childhood Zábrodský played together as a center with the left wing Stanislav Konopásek, with whom he also played for the national team in a row. The right wing was later completed by Jaroslav Juhan, Joseph Kus, František Ladislav Pergl or Troják, and Václav Roziňák. 1948 traveled the LTC Prague to Russia and completed some games - so Zábrodský is one of the first foreign hockey players who completed a hockey game in the USSR and thus helped the development of the Soviet ice hockey.

In addition to his career as a hockey player, he also played tennis and took three times, in 1948, 1955 and 1956 at the Davis Cup in part.

Between 1950 and 1960, playing for Spartak Zábrodský CKD Sokolovo in the first league of Czechoslovakia and was with Sparta twice champion of Czechoslovakia, in 1953 and 1954. In 1997, he was inducted into the IIHF Hall of Fame. More than ten years later, in 2008, he was inducted into the Czech Hockey Hall of Fame.
