Vlastislav Hofman

Vlastislav Hofman ( born February 6, 1884 in Jičín, † March 28, 1964 in Prague) was a Czech architect, urban planner, architectural theorist, painter, graphic artist and stage designer.

Life

Hofman studied in the years 1902 to 1907 architecture in Prague. In the following years he was a representative of the so-called Czech Cubism ( Czech Cubism ), who was represented by in the 1930s by the Künstlervereigung Artěl.

Hofmann wrote, among other articles for the newspaper Pravo lidu ( human rights). He also made stage designs for Prague's Vinohrady ( Theatre in the vineyards ), of which particularly the stage for a production of Hamlet by Karel Hilar caused a stir.
