The Voghera railway station (Italian: Stazione di Voghera ) is the station of the Lombard town of Voghera and an important railway junction. It is operated by the Company CentoStazioni SpA, a subsidiary of Ferrovie dello Stato SpA, .

Geographical Location

The station is located along the routes Milan -Genoa and Alessandria - Piacenza. The routes were operated by RFI.

The train station is located north of the city center and has a total of seven platform tracks. 1931-1966 existed next to the FS station of the local train station of Voghera - Varzi.

History

The station was opened in 1858 with the track Alessandria - Piacenza. 1867 was the route added to Pavia. After the electrification of the railway station was long border between the AC powered and DC power systems.

On May 31, 1962, there came on track 3 of the station to the railway accident in Voghera, with 64 dead, one of the worst accidents in the history of the railways in Italy. A freight train drove almost unabated on a stationary passenger train at the station.
