Voglans

Voglans is a town in the French department of Savoie in the Rhone -Alpes.

Geography

Voglans is located on 262 m above sea level. M., about seven kilometers north of the town of Chambery (air line). The village is located in the northwest of the Savoie département, in the foothills southeast of the Lac du Bourget, a slight increase on the eastern edge of the wide valley that extends south of the lake and is flanked by the Mont du Chat in the west respectively from Mont Revard in the east.

The area of ​​4.62 square kilometers municipal area includes a portion of the valley floor of Chambery. History

The territory of Voglans was already inhabited during the Roman period, which could be detected on the basis of wall foundations, ceramic fragments and inscriptions. Is first mentioned in the 6th century as Voglans Voglanum. Later, the names Voglen and Vouglens published. In the Middle Ages the village belonged to the rule Bourget.
