Volker Oppitz (scientist)

Volker Oppitz (December 6, 1931 in Haida, Czechoslovakia ) is a German financial mathematician, economist and sports official Dynamo Dresden.

Family

Volker Oppitz was the third child of Emil Oppitz (1898-1945), mayor of Haida, and Anna Oppitz (1897-1961), Managing Director of Luster works Oppitz & Max in Haida. He has three children from his first marriage and the second marriage the son Volker Oppitz junior.

Life

He graduated from 1946 to 1949 a lesson in Mühlenwerke Kreutzen. Due to his family background, he was by the secret police of the USSR ( Gossudarstwennoje Polititscheskoje Uprawlenije, formerly the Cheka, later KGB) arrested and spent the time from February 19, 1947 to 7 July 1947 in solitary confinement in the prison of the Main Political Administration of the USSR in Weimar (since 1991 ' recognized political prisoner " (Case No. II 2- 35001 - S)).

From 1950 he studied at the German Müller school Dippoldiswalde (DMD ) and, in 1952, his Diploma in Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering at the Engineering School of Mechanical and Electrical Dresden ( IHD). In 1956, he graduated as an engineer, an economist at the University of Technology Dresden, today's TU Dresden. He was a research student assistant for Technical Drawing with Prof. Haussler (1952 /53), for mathematics with Professor Willers (1953 /54) and of Philosophy with Professor Ley (1954 /55). In 1956 he entered the service of the VEB Flugzeugwerft Dresden (now EADS Elbe Flugzeugwerke GmbH (EADS / EFW ) ) and was initially technologist, later head of the planning model. In 1961 he became Director of New Technology for VEB Elektromat Dresden (now Center for Microelectronics Dresden AG). After lecturing at the Engineering School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Dresden 1965/66 he joined as head of operational management and data processing to the Institute of rationalization and organization of Electrical Engineering, Dresden.

In 1970, he was with a thesis on capacitive industrial systems at TU Dresden Dr. rer. oec. ( Magna cum laude) PhD. After the authorization facultas docendi 1971 he taught at the TU Dresden as an honorary lecturer in business administration, from 1973 as a university lecturer in economic management. In 1981 he habilitated about organization and information networks in business at the University of Rostock, Institute of socialist economic management.

1987 Volker Oppitz was appointed associate professor of business management at the Department of Socialist Economics at the Technical University of Dresden. In 1990 he was appointed to the Chair of Management, Operations Research and Production Management at the TU Dresden. From 1971 to 1990 he was a member of the Council of the Section on Information processing of the TUD. He retired in 1996. From 1973 to 1990 Oppitz was constantly under surveillance by the Ministry of State Security, as the basis of suspicion of " illegal exit of the GDR" for publications in journals of the FRG and disclosure of FRG magazines.

From 1991 to 1995 Oppitz taught at the Academy for training and knowledge transfer, an affiliated institute of the TUD. After his retirement, he taught from 1996 to 2002 Mathematics and Management in the study area real estate industry at the European Institute for Postgraduate Education at TU Dresden. From 2002 to 2005 he was Scientific Director of the training program " Management in the sports and leisure industry ( club manager )" and " Sport Management " at the European Institute for Postgraduate Education ( EIPOS ) Dresden University of Technology in conjunction with the German Sports Federation (DSB ). From 2002 to 2010 he taught at the Academic Europe Seminar ( AES) of EIPOS / TU Dresden, since 2008 in various fields of study in mathematics, statistics and business management.

Oppitz from 1991 to 1997 Managing Director of the Independent economists and engineers GmbH in Dresden and has been since 1997 Managing Director of text, graphics & software in Dresden. He has held various supervisory boards, including at the Saxon Wohnungsgenossenschaft Dresden e. G., youth work education Dresden eV and the European Institute for Postgraduate Education of the Technical University of Dresden, whose spokesman for the Council of Elders, he was in 2008/ 09.

Scientific work

Oppitz mainly deals with the design of mathematical models and their practice-relevant use. He pays special attention to the synthesis of mathematics and business administration and their practical solution to the economic problem of corporate practice. Even the most difficult mathematical models follow his scientific explanation of the purpose to maximize profits in everyday business and to minimize costs.

Oppitz has published more than 200 scientific publications, including 32 books and pamphlets, patents and intellectual property.

2011 Volker Oppitz was added to the Sudeten German Academy of Sciences and Arts, Natural Sciences class. In 2011 he received the EIPOS - training Teaching Award.

SG Dynamo Dresden

Oppitz has held a variety of positions since 1971 at the SG Dynamo Dresden, since 2000 Honorary Member of the SG Dynamo Dresden. In addition to his scientific work, living in Dresden Volker Oppitz was committed between 2002 and 2005 as Vice President of SG Dynamo Dresden, since 2005 as honorary chairman. Oppitz linked the daily practice of a sport functionary with the scientific teaching in a postgraduate course on "Management in the sports and leisure industry ( club manager )" and " Sports Management" at the European Institute for Postgraduate Education ( EIPOS ) of the TU Dresden.
