Vollenborn is located near the highest point of the extracts, the ridge, the Rondel.

History

The town was first mentioned in 1126 as Fulenborn. The village was to 1294 belonged to the counts of matches and then came to the archbishopric Kurmainz. On request archbishopric of Mainz, the village was in 1610 exchanged for Breitenholz ( calibration field ). In the same year Vollenborn seat of a court of the barons from Hagen ( Deuna ). 1711 the present church was built. 1802 to 1807 the place became Prussian and then came to the Kingdom of Westphalia. From 1815 to 1945 he was part of the Prussian province of Saxony. Building and park of the former manor Vollenborn took over in 1933, the then Reich Labor Service. From 1945 to 1949, the city was part of the Soviet zone of occupation and since 1949 part of the GDR. From 1961 until the turn and reunion 1989/1990 Vollenborn was affected by the closure of the nearby German border. Since 1990, the city is part of the re-established state of Thuringia. Since February 4, 1991 it belongs to the administrative community at Eichsfelder boiler. As of 31 December 2013 Vollenborn was incorporated into the municipality Deuna.
