Volvic

Volvic is a commune with 4563 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the Puy -de- Dôme in the Auvergne region. The municipality is located in the district of Riom and there in Canton Riom- Ouest.

Mineral water " Volvic "

From the name of the municipality is the brand name of a mineral water from France when in 1927 the Volvic source was discovered developed. 1938 was bottled for the first time in glass bottles natural and without additives. The then mayor of Volvic, Docteur Pierre Moity, sat down for the version of the sources in a depth of 90 meters. 1965 received the product in France 's official recognition as mineral water ( " eau minérale naturelle ").

The brand now belongs to food group Danone. On the beverage bottle, the landscape around the Puy de Dôme, ( an extinct volcano near Clermont- Ferrand ) is shown. The most common view is taken on a north -south axis with the crater of the Puy de Pariou in the foreground and the Puy de Dome in the background.

In 2000, approximately 1.2 billion liters of mineral water were bottled, almost half of which was sold abroad. Main customers are Germany with a share of 44 % of total exports (as of 2000).
