The Vomper stream in Vomper hole

The mouth of the creek Vomper in the Inn

Course

The Vomper creek rises in the Karwendel on Überschalljoch (1912 m above sea level. A. ), which is the watershed between the Isar and Vomper Bach and initially flows approximately parallel to the Inn valley from west to east. In Vomper hole it changes its direction to the south, flows through a narrow gorge and crosses the village Vomperbach, which he divides the communities Vomp and Terfens. To the south of the district Vomperbach it flows into the Inn. It has a length of approximately 17 km. Throughout the course of the creek forms the boundary between the Vomp in the north and east and the communities Absam, grace and Terfens forest in the south or west.

Water quality

The Vomper stream is partially obscured in Vomper hole of debris and invisible, before it flows through a narrow gorge towards district Vomperbach, so up to this point no grade can be determined. Thereafter, however, it remains constant at stage I, which speaks for a clean body of water.

Hazards

The rubble that covers the stream bed, belies the existence of daruntergelegenem water and is dangerous because the mass can easily start to slip. The creek is raging until the end of the gorge. The course is somewhat flatter Just before the confluence with the Inn.

Electricity

The water of the creek Vomper is used by Stadtwerke Schwaz for energy. A water intake is located at the Bollenbach source below the Ganalm ( 1190 m above sea level. A. ). A second time the stream is further taken out of the valley, where the Gorge trail leaves the canyon towards the guest house Karwendelrast. Of the two versions, the water is diverted to the upper power plant. In this plant, the water of the stream is taken a third time and passed to lower power plant. Overall, the power plants provide about 9000 kW.
