Voyage, voyage is a song that was written by Dominique Albert Dubois and Jean -Michel Rivat and was recorded by the French singer Desireless. It was released in December 1986 as a single from her album François and became international number -one hit in over ten countries, including Germany, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Greece, Israel, Yugoslavia, Lebanon, Norway, Soviet Union, Spain and Thailand. In other countries it reached the charts in the Top Ten, as number 2 in France. In the UK, the original version reached number 53
History
The piece is sung in French, a value held in a minor up-tempo dance song with slight influences of popular at the time subgenres Hi- NRG, who in 1987 became the surprising chart success. In Germany it was in that year the single, which could hold the longest on the charts. In France, the song failed to make it to number one, but spent four weeks at No. 2, where it stayed 21 weeks in the charts of 13 December 1986 to 9 May 1987. In Switzerland Voyage was, voyage, though never number one in the weekly charts, due to the long residence time from April to November, 1987, winner of the year charts.
In the UK, the original version was ranked 53 with less successful - but reached in June 1988, a remix version by Pete Hammond and Pete Waterman # 5 on the charts.
Cover versions
In 2008, the Belgian singer Kate Ryan coverte the song and reached number 13 in Germany, among others. This version was also placed chart in six other countries, reaching partly re- positions among the top ten. This song was released as a double single event for Euro Games 2007 in Belgium, the second single was the anthem of the event We All Belong. A music video was filmed voyage to Voyage. The song appeared on the album Free.
The German original recording was also born in 1986 and came from the group Fernando Express. They covered the title Voyage, voyage in German and coupled it out as a single. In February 2012, a cover version of the song appeared on the album Narrow the Soap & Skin project.
