Vysoký Chlumec

Vysoký Chlumec ( German high Chlumetz ) is a market town in the Czech Republic. It is located six kilometers south-west of Sedlčany and belongs to Příbram.

Geography

Vysoký Chlumec located at the western foot of the hill Chlumec (532 m) with the castle Vysoký Chlumec in the Central Bohemian hills. At the northern end of the village lies the valley of the brook Libíňský creek, south of the source base of the creek Chlumecký creek. On the southern outskirts of the village, the main road runs between II/105 Sedlčany and Petro Vice. To the north rise the Svatý Marek (Mark Mountain, 540 m) and the Kamenná (515 m), in the south of the Pivovarska hora (486 m ) southwest of the Radešín (546 m) and the Na Chlumech ( 539 m ) in the west of Velky Pýrný ( 553 m ) and northwest of the Lampír (559 m).

History

The first written mention of the village was carried out in 1235 as the seat of Mrákota Chlumec. In 1250 Vintíř Chlumec is proven. It is likely that there was at this time in Chlumec a small mansion. It is not clear whether this was on the castle hill or below it.

The Chlumec castle was probably the end of the reign of Charles IV built. Your first written record was made in 1382 in connection with the viscount Zbynek. In 1385, King Wenceslaus IV left the castle Chlumec with the associated villages Chlumec and Víska his favorite Purkart Strnad Janovice hereditary. Peter Janovice belonged in 1405 to the signatories of the protest document of the Bohemian nobility to the Council of Constance against the burning of Jan Hus; at the battle of Lipan he fought in 1434 on the part of the moderate coalition. Emperor Sigismund pledged to him then several, formerly the St. George Monastery at Prague Castle villages belonging to Chlumec. In the mid-15th century, the Chlumetzer rule consisted of two goods, 16 hereditary villages and several forests. Below kept the Chlumetzer branch of Popel of Lobkowicz ownership over five centuries and established the rule to one of the largest in Bohemia.

In 1617 Chlumec was first listed in a directory of the reign as the town below the castle. In manorial land register of 1637, two breweries, four sheep farms, six mills, a brickyard, a sawmill, 54 ponds and 829 properties are listed. Including the purchased goods the rule of the city Sedlčany, the town Chlumec, Sedlec, Krasna Hora nad Vltavou and were Kamýk nad Vltavou and 90 villages submissive. Wenzel Eusebius von Lobkowicz was the rule with the associated goods 1640 to raise Familienfideikommiss. Under Ferdinand Philipp Joseph Fürst von Lobkowicz, who was on Chlumec since 1739 Mr. and management of the rule entirely, leaving his officers, broke into Sedlčany and the surrounding villages of a peasant uprising against the arbitrariness of Chlumetzer officials. The market town Chlumetz also Podhrad / Chlumec or CHLUMEC existed in 1845, including the castle high - Chlumetz of 64 houses with 584 inhabitants. In Chlumetz there was a stately office building, called the " home team ", an estate and a brewery. The castle served as the residence of the officials. Vicarage was Podschepitz. After the abolition of patrimonial Chlumec / Chlumetz formed with the districts Vápenice and Víska a market town in the district court district Votice and Sedlčany. As of 1868, the market town Chlumec belonged to the district court and district Sedlčany. Today's local name Vysoký Chlumec was introduced in the 1870s to distinguish it from other places named Chlumec. The volunteer fire department was founded on 1 May 1887. In 1932, the municipality had 770 inhabitants, including the two districts. During the German occupation, the Max Lobkowicz castle belonging and brewery were seized by the Germans. He was awarded after the end of World War II back his property and was expropriated by the communists again in 1948. At the same time fell Vysoký Chlumec down to the village. After the abolition of Okres Sedlčany Vysoký Chlumec in 1960 associated with the Příbram. Attractions
