Waldkirch, Switzerland
Waldkirch is a municipality in the canton of St. Gallen. It is located in the constituency of St. Gallen.
History
Since 1803 Waldkirch forms with Bernhardzell a municipality.
Geography
Waldkirch borders the municipalities Bischofszell, Hauptwil God House, Lower Buren, Gossau, Andwil, Gaiserwaldstrasse, Witten Bach and Häggenschwil. It is a rural community dominated ( 63.8 % agricultural land, 30 % of jobs in the primary sector ). The municipality comprises the villages of Waldkirch and Bernhardzell. This also includes the villages of Ronwil, Edlischwil and Hohfirst, and the smaller hamlet upper Grimm, Oberwil, and Ruti.
Policy
Waldkirch is a political community. Then there are the Primarschulgemeinde Waldkirch and Primarschulgemeinde Bernhardzell; the two parts of the village have their own primary schools. In Waldkirch itself is a senior center for the whole community. This is supported by the upper school community Waldkirch - Bernhardzell.
Religion
Waldkirch and Bernhardzell are Catholic and have their own churches. These are worn by the Catholic parish Waldkirch and the Catholic parish Bernhardzell.
Traffic
To the west of the municipality of the railroad leading from Gossau to Bischofszell about the municipality, but there is no train station. The community is accessible by the road network; there is a post bus connections to Witten Bach, Gossau and Castel Sant'Angelo.
In Waldkirch is one of the first hotels without staff.
