Walk of Life (Dire Straits song)

Walk of Life (English for " social class " ) is a song by British rock band Dire Straits from 1985, which was written by Mark Knopfler and produced in collaboration with Neil Dorfsman. Musically, it is added to the country-pop - rock, which comes to light especially in the live version. It appeared on the album Brothers in Arms.

The song is about a protagonist named Johnny who wants to celebrate success in the music business. In addition, the play contains allusions to other songs like I Got a Woman, Be-Bop -A- Lula, What'd I Say and The Ballad of Mack the Knife.

Initially Walk of Life was the B-side of So Far Away and should not appear on the album Brothers in Arms, but on the advice of Neil Dorfman's the band released the song and he was successful on the charts as well as a number -one hit in Ireland.

As a music video we used a live performance by the Dire Straits.
