Walram II, Count of Nassau

Walram II (* 1220, † January 24, 1276 ) was of 1250 / 1251 to 1255 Count of Nassau and in 1255 the founder of Walram line between the House of Nassau.

Walram was the eldest son of Henry II, the rich and the Matilda of Geldern. Because of a dispute with his younger brother Otto came at the end 1255 to the first major division of the Nassau possessions, which centuries of political and geographical separation of the two lines began. Walram received all areas south of the Lahn, Wiesbaden- Idstein, and Weilburg Sonnenberg. Walram was involved in feuds with the archbishops of Trier and with Dehrnbach. He allegedly died in mental derangement.

Marriage and issue

Walram was married to Adelaide of Katzenelenbogen († 1288), sister of Count Diether V of Katzenelenbogen, and had with her the following children:
