Walter Knödel

Walter dumplings ( born May 20, 1926 in Vienna) is an Austrian mathematician and professor emeritus of computer science at the University of Stuttgart.

Life

Walter dumplings studied at the Vienna University of mathematics and physics. He received his PhD in 1948 in the field of number theory with Edmund Hlawka and habilitated in 1953, also at the University of Vienna. Walter dumplings was appointed in 1961 to the Chair of Instrumental mathematics at the University of Stuttgart and also took over the management of the computing institute ..

Work

Walter dumplings is the author of books and numerous scientific publications. In 1961 he wrote the first German -language textbook on computer programming: Programming of digital computer systems. He is the founding dean of the faculty of computer science at the University of Stuttgart and a founding member of the Society for computer science.

The dumplings numbers are named after Walter dumplings.
