Wang Chuanfu

Wang Chuanfu (Chinese王传福; * about 1966) is an industrialist of the People's Republic of China. He is the founder and president of BYD Company Ltd..

Wang Chuanfu grew up as the son of a peasant family. His parents died in his childhood, so he was raised by his brother and sister. He studied chemistry at the Central South Industrial University of Technology. His master was Wang Chuanfu 1990 at Beijing Non-Ferrous Research Institute. He then worked as a researcher in a state-owned enterprise, but was unhappy with the limited financial resources. Therefore he made in 1995 independently. His start-up capital, which he had borrowed from relatives, was $ 300,000. He began in a small factory with 20 employees in Buji Town, a town in the district of Longgang the Chinese city of Shenzhen to produce rechargeable batteries.

In 2003 he bought the ailing, state-owned automobile manufacturer '' Xi'an Tsinchuan Auto Co., Ltd.. and founded the subsidiary BYD Auto.

In early 2009 he was put by Forbes Magazine with an estimated fortune of 1.3 billion U.S. dollars to place the 559 richest people. End of 2009, its total assets were estimated at 5.1 billion U.S. dollars, making him probably the currently richest Chinese.
