BW

The Warinsee is located in the district of Rostock within the municipal area of Lalendorf in Mecklenburg -Vorpommern and is located about 15 kilometers east of Güstrow and about nine kilometers west of Teterow. The lake is part of a lying north of Lalendorf to Niegleve chain of lakes. It has a length of approximately two kilometers and a width of 700 meters. The oval, less-structured water is in a flat, marshy valley. The lake is very shallow (maximum 4 meters) and surrounded by a belt of reeds. In the lake there are three smaller islands, the largest of which bears the name Big Werder. South of the lake runs the highway 104 and west of the railway line Neustrelitz -Warnemünde.

The Warinsee was reported in 2011 as a bird sanctuary.
