Washington (footballer)

Washington Stecanela Cerqueira ( born April 1, 1975 in Brasília ), better known as Washington, is a Brazilian footballer.

Life

Washington first played at Internacional, Gremio, Ponte Preta and SER Caxias before to Paraná Clube him his breakthrough and he was brought back from Ponte Preta. There he fired within two seasons in 47 games 34 goals. Then you became aware of him in Europe and he moved in 2002 to Fenerbahce in Turkey.

In the Süper Lig, he scored nine goals in twelve games. Then, however, heart disease was noted in coronary angiography, so the doctors advised him to end career.

After a long break, he signed a contract with Clube Atlético Paranaense, for whom he played from 2004. For the club, he scored in his comeback season in 38 games 34 goals. In 2005 he moved to Tokyo Verdy 1969 in the Japanese J. League. Here he scored 22 goals this season in 33 games. In May 2006, it took Guido Buchwald to Urawa Red Diamonds.
