Waste Land (film)

Wasteland is a Brazilian- British documentary from the year 2010. Lucy Walker accompanied with the camera an art project with garbage collectors on a garbage dump in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil.

Action

The basis of the film is an art project of living in America Brazilian sculptor and photographer Vik Muniz, which is reflected in the fact that he with the collectors at the dump Jardim Gramacho near Rio de Janeiro, the livelihood earning so that they are as recyclable waste collect metals or PET plastic etc. and sell it to middlemen, art designed, in part, from garbage. The project were accompanied on film by the British Lucy Walker and the crew so that the documentary film Waste Land. Wasteland received several awards, including the Sundance Film Festival ( Audience Award ) and the Berlinale. In addition, the film was nominated for an Oscar in 2011.

The theatrical release in Germany was the 26th May 2011.
