Wat Hua Lamphong

Wat Hua Lamphong ( Thai: วัด หัวลำโพง ) is a Buddhist temple ( wat ) in the district of Bang Rak ( Kwaeng Si Phraya - สี่พระยา ) in Bangkok. Wat Hua Lamphong is a Royal Temple Class Three. The temple is sometimes confused with Wat Traimit, since this is very close to the main railway station Hua Lamphong.

Wat Hua Lamphong was originally called Wat Wua Lamphong, its name comes from one channel ( Khlong ) with the same name, which ran eight kilometers long, starting from the southern part of the Khlong Krung Kasem Padung in an easterly direction. Along the canal was a trail called Wua Lamphong Road. Today, from the Wua Lamphong Road one of the busiest streets of Bangkok become: the Rama IV Road ( Thanon Phra Ram 4).

Wat Hua Lamphong is located south of Rama IV Road next to the Chula - high-tech - Square between the junctions with the roads Phaya Thai and Si Phraya. The stop Sam Yan station of the Bangkok Metro is right outside the entrance of the temple.

Noteworthy is the ubosot the temple, which stands on a one-story base. A grand staircase leads from the entrance of the temple directly into the sanctuary.
